This past Sunday, SMR held its annual welcome-back get-together in the form of a barbecue. Alyssa Wells, our wonderful co-chair, was kind enough to host the event at her house, alongside assistant host Gustav (the furry one with the collar staring straight at the camera and into our hearts). We enjoyed a tasty spread of food and drinks, and also learned a lot about our hidden talents and charade skills (or lack thereof—I’m talking about you, fellow theorists) with a game of Monikers. Despite the rain (apparently a tradition now), we did also manage to get outside for a bit and enjoy the sun. All in all, the event was a success. Looking forward to the next one!
Last weekend, SMR members celebrated the end of a semester and the conclusion of another productive year with its annual year-end barbecue. Delicious food and excellent company were in their usual ample supply, and while chilly and rainy weather forced the festivities indoors, there was also merriment. A refreshing and enjoyable summer to each!
Two weeks ago, a few SMR members went ice skating to celebrate the end of winter. There were many falls, some bruises, but luckily no lasting damage to anything but our dreams of becoming Olympic figure skaters.
This past weekend members of SMR met over brunch for a belated Palentines Day celebration. They pondered questions such as “why would anyone ever eat anything besides breakfast food?” and rejoiced over breakfast’s ability to cure any and all ailments.
Last weekend, SMR members met for a White Elephant Holiday Gift Exchange. Gifts were exchanged (and variously coveted and pawned off), delicious desserts were consumed, and revelry and merriment abounded—a great way to finish off the semester and kick off the holidays.
Last Saturday while many Wolverines were roaring at the Michigan Stadium, a number of SMR members were enjoying themselves in the peaceful backyard of Anne’s house. The weather couldn’t have been better, with the perfect combination of a cool breeze and warm sunshine. We enjoyed Anne’s wonderfully grilled chicken and hot dogs, alongside homemade salads, side dishes, and desserts contributed by other SMR members. The delicious food and amicable company were clear signs of success in the upcoming academic year!
