On March 10, Jessica Grimmer (historical musicology) and Anna Rose Nelson (music theory) both presented papers to an audience of SMR members for their feedback and suggestions. Jessica’s paper dealt with sexual politics in France around the French Revolution, and Anna’s paper, which she recently gave at the Indiana University Symposium of Research in Music Theory, was entitled “A Musically-Influenced Philosophy: Schoenberg’s ‘Idea’ as Resistance in Adorno’s ‘Culture Industry.’”
